Overview

Data that moves markets — made legible

Coin Metrics is one of the most trusted names in crypto financial intelligence: real-time, block-by-block data spanning 60+ assets — effectively every major coin on the market. The kind of data that institutions like Goldman Sachs, BlackRock and Crypto.com use to make multi-million-dollar calls.

I was one of just two designers, owning UX and UI across the entire 7-product suite — Dashboard, Charts, Atlas, Farum, CMBI, Coverage and Labs — working shoulder-to-shoulder with a 50+ person team of engineers, researchers and data scientists. In 2025, Coin Metrics was acquired by Talos.

The challenge

Brilliant data, buried in complexity

Crypto data is relentless — thousands of metrics, dozens of chains, updating block by block, in real time. The products had grown fast, and each had drifted into its own visual language.

The job was twofold: tame that firehose into interfaces an analyst can read in seconds, and unify seven separate products under one coherent system — all as one of only two designers in the building.

Approach

System first, then the firehose

I built the foundation before the surfaces — so seven products could share one language — then focused on making the hardest, densest data feel effortless to read.

01

Learn the data

Sat with research and data teams to understand on-chain mechanics — and what institutions actually need to make a decision.

02

Build the system

Created the company-wide design system from scratch — components, charts and patterns built for dense, real-time data.

03

Design for clarity

Turned firehoses of on-chain data into calm, decision-ready views across all seven products.

Designing for dense data

From firehose to a single clear screen

Across Dashboard, Charts, Atlas, Farum, CMBI, Coverage and Labs, the through-line never changed: make complex on-chain and market data instantly legible. Real-time charts, comparison views and coverage tools that let an analyst go from question to answer without getting lost.

Every view was built to answer the only thing that matters in a fast market — what's happening right now, and what do I do about it?

Outcome

One system. Seven products. A $100M+ exit.

A single, consistent design system now runs across all seven products, used daily by institutions including Goldman Sachs, BlackRock and Crypto.com. In 2025, Coin Metrics was acquired by Talos for $100M+.
